Manchester United’s Christiano Ronaldo has been released from international duty with Portugal.
Ronaldo Scored a late brace to inspire Portugal to complete a comeback against Ireland in his nation’s first world cup qualifying match of the international break on Wednesday, but those goals have greater importance as the five-time Ballon d’OR winner created history.
That’s because Ronaldo broke the all-time international scoring record, he’s now scored an incredible 111 international Goals.
However, Ronaldo received a yellow card in that match and that was his second of the qualification period, which means he’ll now fulfill a mandatory one game suspension which will rule him out of the Portugal’s game against Azerbaijan.
Ronaldo has now been released from international duty and he could therefore return to Manchester United earlier than as anticipated.
There are quarantine rules to consider, though, which could delay Ronaldo making his return to Carrington. The UK government’s rule states that fully-vaccinated people entering from Portugal do not have to self-isolate, but if Ronaldo isn’t double-jabbed, then he’ll need to quarantine at home for 10 days – which could rule him out of United’s game vs Newcastle.
Manchester United announced the signing of Christiano Ronaldo on a two-year contracte, with the option for another year on Tuesday and the forward has rejoined the club he spent six years with 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid.
