Bayern Munich are claimed to be ‘working on’ a deal to sign Timo Werner from Chelsea.
Bayern are interested in a deal to sign the Germany international and could make an approach as early as the January transfer window, with Werner having endured an indifferent period since signing for Chelsea from RB Leipzig.
The 25-year-old scored just six league goals during a challenging first season in the Premier League and has found himself out of favour since the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.
Werner has featured for just nine minutes across Chelsea’s past three Premier League fixtures and Football Insider are reporting that Bayern are now preparing to firm up their interest in the forward.
The Bundesliga champions are now under the management of former Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann, who is keen for a reunion with Werner as Bayern seek competition and cover for Robert Lewandowski.
Werner enjoyed the best season of his career under Nagelsmann at the Red Bull Arena, scoring 34 goals in all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign to earn a £47.5m move to Chelsea.
Werner scored 12 goals and provided a further 15 assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season, but has struggled to convince Thomas Tuchel and a return to the Bundesliga is a possibility ahead of the winter window.
