Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United must ‘address’ their slow starts following the club’s Carabao Cup exit to West Ham.
United crashed out of the Carabao Cup’s third round following a 1-0 defeat to the Hammers, Manuel Lanzini scoring the only goal of the game in the ninth minute at Old Trafford as David Moyes’ side progressed to the next round.
The two teams had met in the Premier League on Sunday with the Red Devils securing a dramatic win at the London Stadium, though the Hammers exacted revenge for that loss in a fixture that saw both managers ring the chances.
Solskjaer introduced Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood during the second half in search of an equaliser, but West Ham held on to the lead that Lanzini had provided following what was a strong start from the visitors.

Solskjaer was disappointed with his side in the opening exchanges and says the Red Devils ‘need to start games better’ following their cup exit.
“The first 10 minutes we were slow, pedestrian both in possession and out of possession,” Solskjaer told a press conference.
“That is something we have to address and we do address. I wasn’t very pleased with the start at all, no. The response was great again but we can’t find ourselves in these situations and expect to get the wins that we have done, fantastically in the last year and a half.
“We need to start games better.”
