Liverpool sent scouts to watch Arnaut Danjuma during the Villarreal winger’s impressive Champions League performance against Manchester United.
Danjuma starred as Villarreal slipped to a late defeat against the Red Devils at Old Trafford, being named as man of the match after tormenting Diogo Dalot throughout in a fine performance from the 24-year-old.
Liverpool are understood to have expressed an interest in signing the star during the summer, but saw Danjuma sign for Villarreal in a £21m deal from Championship side Bournemouth.
The two-cap Netherlands international scored 17 league goals and provided a further seven assists for the Cherries in 2020/21 and Football Insider are reporting that Liverpool are continuing to monitor his progress since his move to Spain.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to add to his forward options and the versatile Danjuma fits the club’s criteria, with his ability to play across the front line likely to appeal to the Reds’ recruitment staff.
Danjuma has made seven appearances since moving to La Liga, scoring three goals and providing an assist for Unai Emery’s side.
