Timo Werner will reportedly ‘reassess’ his Chelsea future in January if the forward can not force his way back into Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Werner has started just two league fixtures so far this season and was an unused substitute during the west London side’s 1-0 defeat at Juventus in midweek, the forward remaining on the bench as previously out-of-favour names such as Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were introduced ahead of him.
The 25-year-old is understood to be increasingly concerned over his role in the squad, having seen summer signing Romelu Lukaku assume the mantle as Chelsea‘s centre-forward.
Werner has failed to convince since a move to the Premier League from RB Leipzig, scoring just six league goals last term during a disappointing debut season at Stamford Bridge.
The Telegraph are reporting that the Germany international could be offered a return to the Bundesliga next summer, with both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund potentially seeking attacking reinforcements.
Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move to PSG after expressing a desire for a new challenge away from Bayern, whilst Dortmund are expected to lose Erling Haaland as Europe’s elite scramble to sign the Norwegian.
Werner previously scored 78 league goals across four seasons in the Bundesliga with Leipzig and will reassess his future in the winter window should further opportunities not arrive under Tuchel at Chelsea.
