Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland reportedly lead a list of transfer targets incoming manager Xavi has submitted to the Barcelona board.
Xavi is expected to be named as the new Barcelona manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, with the Catalans currently negotiating with Qatari side Al Sadd to bring the club legend back to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona have endured a difficult start to the season and are currently ninth in La Liga, the incoming manager set for a major rebuilding job as he bids to restore the Spanish side to former glories.
El Nacional are reporting that Xavi has handed president Joan Laporta a four-man transfer wishlist, one that includes both Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland.
Pogba has entered the final months of his contract at Manchester United and has turned down the opportunity to extend his deal with the club, the France international free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides from January 1.
Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG have also been linked with the signing of the 28-year-old, whose availability on a free transfer has alerted each of Europe’s major clubs.
Barcelona are also set to join the race to sign Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, the forward the most in-demand player in world football as the release clause in his contract at the Bundesliga side becomes active next summer.
Xavi wants the Norway international – who has scored 70 goals in 69 appearances for Dortmund – as the club’s next number nine, though the Spaniards face competition from across Europe, including from Premier League giants in Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.
The other names on Xavi’s list of targets are RB Leipzig midfielder and Spain international Dani Olmo, alongside Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
Much, of course, will depend on the club’s concerning financial situation, however, one which led to the exits of names including Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Miralem Pjanic last summer.
