Barcelona are considering moves for a trio of Premier League players in January as the club look to solve their striker shortage.
The Spanish side will look to the winter window to reinforce their attacking options after Sergio Aguero was ruled out for a period of at least three months, the Argentine set to undergo ‘cardiovascular evaluation’ after suffering from chest pains and dizziness during the draw with Alaves last weekend.
Sport are reporting that three Premier League players have been placed on Barcelona’s shortlist, though the Catalan’s options are limited given their financial situation.
Alexandre Lacazette and Edinson Cavani are two names on the club’s radar, the forward duo having each entered the final months of their respective contracts at Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
Lacazette has made just two league starts so far this season, though each have come during Arsenal’s past two fixtures with the 30-year-old having helped the Gunners to wins over Aston Villa and Leicester.
Cavani has also returned to favour after spending the early part of the season on the sidelines, scoring during Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Tottenham last weekend and showing an encouraging understanding with Cristiano Ronaldo.
The third name on Barcelona’s shortlist is Raheem Sterling, who last month spoke on his ambitions to play abroad after becoming unsettled with a lack of minutes at Manchester City.
The England international appears out of financial reach for Barcelona at present, however, and has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.
Barcelona – who are expected to name Xavi as their new manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman – have also been linked with Red Bull Salzburg youngster Karim Adeyemi.
