Paul Pogba is reportedly still keen to renew his contract at Manchester United, though is wanting a record-breaking salary to commit his future to the club.
Pogba’s future has dominated the headlines in recent months with the midfielder having so far failed to sign an extension to his current deal, the midfielder out of contract at the end of the season and free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides from January.
Despite reports that Manchester United have ‘completely shelved’ talks with the 28-year-old over a new deal, L’Equipe, as per SportWitness, are reporting that Pogba is keen to remain with the Premier League side.
However, the France international will demand a wage that will make him the highest-paid player in Premier League history in order to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
Such deal appears unlikely given Pogba’s failure to make a significant impression in recent seasons, the midfielder having faded since a bright start to the Premier League campaign and currently serving a three-match ban after being sent off in the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool last month.
Pogba is also expected to miss the next two months after sustaining a thigh injury whilst on international duty with France.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are amongst the clubs monitoring his situation and each will be able to approach Pogba over a free transfer move from January 1.
