Eight Manchester United players have reportedly been left feeling ‘misled’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, over broken promises regarding their playing time at Old Trafford this season.
Several of the Manchester United squad have been left feeling frustrated over a lack of opportunities this season, despite being handed assurances over their involvement by Solskjaer during the summer.
The lack of rotation has increased the unrest amongst the Red Devils’ squad, with Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Dean Henderson, Juan Mata, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot amongst those unhappy with their involvement, according to ESPN.
Van de Beek’s lack of minutes has been well-documented since his arrival from Ajax in 2020, the midfielder having featured for just 16 minutes in the Premier League during the current campaign, after making only four league starts last season.
Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and impressed, though remained with the Red Devils after being priced out of a move away from the club.
The 28-year-old has made just one Carabao Cup start this season and has lost his place in the England squad as a result, with the midfielder omitted from the Three Lions’ set-up for November’s World Cup qualifiers.
The fringe members of Solskjaer’s squad were convinced to remain at Old Trafford following assurances from the manager, but the Norwegian’s lack of rotation has seen them remain on the sidelines for much of the campaign.
Their lack of opportunities has come despite a poor run of form from the Red Devils, who have lost six of their past 12 fixtures across all competitions.
Each could now seek an exit ahead of the January transfer window, with both Van de Beek and Lingard amongst the names who are set to be subject of significant transfer interest.
