AC Milan join the race to sign Arsenal striker Lacazette

AC Milan have joined the race to sign Alexandre Lacazette as the forward approaches the end of his contract with Arsenal.

Lacazette’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the campaign and there has been no breakthrough on a potential extension, with the Gunners reluctant to hand the 30-year-old a lucrative long-term deal.

The forward has returned to the side in recent weeks and has impressed following Mikel Arteta’s change in formation, partnering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the club’s upturn in form.

However, his future remains uncertain and AC Milan have joined a list of clubs monitoring his situation, with calciomercato reporting that the Rossoneri will face competition from Marseille, Newcastle and Atletico Madrid.

Lacazette signed for Arsenal in a then £52m club-record deal from Lyon in 2017 and has scored 68 goals in 180 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners.

Should a decision be made to allow the Frenchman to leave the club, Arsenal could look to cash-in on Lacazette in January and obtain a transfer fee before his contract expires next summer.

Arsenal also face losing Eddie Nketiah with the forward’s contract also expiring at the end of the season, whilst Bernd Leno could depart in the winter window after losing his first-choice status to summer signing Aaron Ramsdale.
