I’m not an interim manager: what Ralf Rangnick said about appointment earlier this year.
According to the Times in early 2021, Ralf Rangnick said: “Chelsea were interested [when Frank Lamperd was sacked last season].
“I said, I would love to come and work with you, but I cannot do it for four months. I am not an interim coach’.
“To everyone in the media and the players you would be the ‘four-month manager’, a lame duck, from day one”.
Something has obviously changed the 63-years-old mind with the Germa reportedly agreeing a six-month contract to become the United’s interim coach.
Ralf Rangnick is known for putting his faith in young players at whatever club he’s employed, mostly recruiting players under the age of 24.
The 63-year-old is set to become Man United’s permanent manager for the rest of the 2021/22 season.
The news where 1st reported by the Athletic on Thursday, and was confirmed by every Major British outlet.
The deal would see the German transition into a two-year ‘consultancy’ position at Old Trafford at the end of the 2021/22 season.
