Jurgen Klopp says Manchester United ‘will be organised’ under Ralph Rangnick as the Red Devils close in on the appointment of an interim manager.
Rangnick is set to sign a six-month deal with Manchester United to take charge on an interim basis, before moving into a consultatory role at Old Trafford.
The 63-year-old is a highly-respected figure within the game and is cited as one of the founders of the gegenpressing system later popularised by Klopp during his spells at Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
Klopp has previously hailed Rangnick as ‘one of the best, if not the best German coach’ and ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Southampton has spoken on the impending arrival of his compatriot in the Premier League.
“It’s a bit tricky, we usually don’t talk until they are confirmed,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.
“It’s obviously a really experienced manager, built famously two clubs from nowhere to proper forces in Germany. The first concern is always a coach and that is what he is. United will be organised.”
Rangnick is widely credited as having a major influence on the careers of Premier League managers including Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Ralph Hasehuttl, and the Liverpool boss says the former RB Leipzig coach is a ‘highly regarded’ figure within the game.
“He is highly regarded with the coaches. Where he has been he has done incredible jobs. He started as a young man at Stuttgart and then made his way up. I faced him when I was a young coach. He might have forgot that, but he called me a lot at Mainz.”
