Manchester United will be looking to make a winning start to life under new interim manager Ralf Rangnick when he takes his first game in charge at on Sunday at old Trafford against Crystal palace.
United who got back to winning ways in a five goals thriller against Arsenal on Thursday, installed the experienced German coach as their new manager on a six months deal on Monday, following the departure of Ole Gunner Solskjaers.
Due to a delay with his work Visa being finalized, Rangnick was forced to take up a watching brief against Arsenal, watching the action unfold alongside John Murtough from the director’s box, before being unveiled officially to the Media at old Trafford on Friday morning.
Following his first meeting with the local and national media, Rangnick took training at Carrington for the very first time, as he began to put plans on place for sunday’s tussle with Palace.
But what happened during the German first training session as United interim manager? Below, MEN sports have picked out four things we spotted from the training session.
Rangnick gets his idea Across
Ask every manager in the world what the most important aspect of a first training session at a new club is, and nine times out of ten they will deliver the same answer.
Rangnick’s first task was getting to know his players and drilling his idea into them. The German has been pictured in deep conversation with many of his players and was spotted handing out some instructions to the likes of Mason Greenwood and Nemanja Matic.

Rangnick in deep conversation
Michael Carrick may have left Old Trafford, meaning Rangnick can no longer pick his brains on a daily basis about the squad, but he still has several other coaches who know the squad inside out that he can turn to.
The German was spotted in deep conversation with Kieran McKenna during Friday’s session, no doubt trying to find out as much as possible about his players as well as filling in on what his plans are for the visit of Palace.
Van De Beek Aims to impress
Having experienced a difficult time at old Trafford under Solskjaers, Dutchman Donny Van De Beek will be hoping that he can resurrect his career under Rangnick.
As is so often the mantra, the arrival of a new manager tends to wipe the slate Clean for every player, meaning their is no reason why the midfielder cannot turn the tide on his United career and get things moving in the right direction.
During the training session, Van De Beek was picture working with the ball at his feet, with Rangnick keeping a close eye on proceedings.
Whether he will be thrown straight into the starting lineup against Crystal palace on Sunday, of course, remains to be seen.
