Anthony Martial wants January exit from Manchester United

Anthony Martial is keen to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window, the player’s agent has confirmed.

Martial has made just two league starts this season and has struggled for regular opportunities, following the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho last summer.

The France international scored just four league goals during a disappointing 2020/21 season and is now keen to leave the Red Devils in search of first-team football, with the player’s agent revealing that the forward will consider his options when the window opens next month.

Philippe Lamboley, who represents the United star, told Sky Sports News: “Anthony wishes to leave the club in January.

“He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”

Martial signed for the Red Devils from Monaco for an initial fee of around £36m in 2015, but has struggled for consistency across six-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford.

He was named as the club’s Players’ Player of the Year and finished as the club’s leading scorer with 23 goals in all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign, though has failed to build on those performances and has fallen out of favour in recent months.
