Rangnick responds to comments from Martial’s agent about wanting to leave Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick has told Anthony Martial to inform ‘either the board of myself’ if he wants to leave Manchester United.

Martial is understood to be keen to leave the club next month, with the forward’s agent having revealed that the France international wants an exit in search of regular first-team football.

The 26-year-old has struggled for form and fitness in recent months and has made just two Premier League starts this season, whilst he is yet to feature under Rangnick as he recovers from a knee issue.

Rangnick was asked about Martial’s future ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Brentford in the Premier League and says the forward must inform the club’s management if he wants to leave in January.

“I don’t communicate with agents via the media and press. The player hasn’t spoken with me or us about it,” Rangnick told his pre-match press conference.

“After the final training session before the Crystal Palace game, after having trained with team, he informed the doctor and the medical department that he would not be available because the pain in his knee is too big.

“We have to wait and see. Maybe he can train again tomorrow but I have to speak to the doctor first. To be honest, what his agent says via the media is not of that much interest to me.

Asked if he would speak to Martial regarding his agent’s comments, Rangick added: “No. Then I would react to what his agent has said and it should be the player. If he really has the wish to go to another club it should be the player who informs either the Board or myself. I have never spoken about a player via the media and via agents.”
