Man City’s Ferran Torres the ‘number one goal’ for Barcelona in January

Ferran Torres is the ‘number one goal’ for Barcelona during the January transfer window as the Spanish side target a deal for the Manchester City forward.

Barcelona are seeking the signing of a forward following Sergio Aguero’s sudden retirement, the summer signing calling time on his career following medical advice, after suffering chest issues during a clash with Alaves in October.

Torres has now emerged as the leading target for the Catalans in the winter window with SPORT revealing the Manchester City star is the club’s ‘number one’ priority as January approaches.

The 21-year-old has made just four league appearances for City so far this season after suffering a fractured foot whilst playing for Spain during the UEFA Nations League in October.

Barcelona have identified the forward as a player who can improve their side in the immediate and long-term, with Torres having already established himself at international level for Spain with 12 goals in just 22 appearances for La Roja.

Barcelona are reportedly confident of landing his signing despite the club’s concerning financial situation, with the Premier League champions understood to be open to different payment structures for a deal that could cost the Catalans around €50m.

The Spanish giants have also been linked with a whole host of forward players in recent months, including Edinson Cavani, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and most recently, Alexis Sanchez.
