Tuchel outlines the ‘big danger’ for Chelsea after recent results leave them in ‘the worst place’ possible

Thomas Tuchel has said that Chelsea are in ‘the worst place’ possible following their recent results, insisting their performances have deserved far more than they have got.

The Blues were among the early league leaders as they continued their ruthless form over from last season, though have fallen behind after winning just three of their last seven league games.

While Chelsea have been one of the most defensively solid sides in Europe since Tuchel’s appointment in January, that solidity has somewhat dwindled in recent weeks, with the club now without a clean sheet in their last six outings in all competitions.

Those defensive fragilities have been exacerbated by the absence of the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante, with the Blues seemingly lacking ruthlessness in front of goal.

Their recent 1-1 draw with Everton saw them enjoy a whopping 80 percent possession, and have 23 attempts on goal compared to the Toffees’ five, and Thomas Tuchel has said that their good performances and failure to get results poses a ‘big danger’ to his side and their mentality.

“We’re in exactly the place you don’t want to be,” Tuchel said at his pre-match press conference. “Good performances — sometimes very good — but we don’t have results. A good performance with no result is the worst place.

“I don’t see where we played a bad game at West Ham and I refuse to analyse the Everton match from the result.

“It makes no sense. We were clearly the better team. If you only look at results in football, you can be horribly misled.

“This is a big danger, a big risk. It can lead to frustration. It can lead to the same behaviour as if you played bad, and I don’t want to end up there so I still encourage my team to go and do it again, and believe. Why should we not?

“The recent results are not what we expected or deserved. It’s a bit up and down. Maybe we struggle also with the praise. I don’t think it’s one reason.”
