Tuchel ‘pleased’ despite Chelsea stuttering to dire 0-0 draw away to Wolves

Chelsea’s stuttering form continued after Thomas Tuchel’s side played out a drab 0-0 draw away to Wolves earlier today.

In all honesty today’s encounter was a turgid affair devoid of any real attacking quality, which was hardly helped by foggy conditions at Molineux.

A Daniel Podence goal that was disallowed for an offside against Raul Jimenez in the first-half and a missed one-on-one by Christian Pulisic was about as good as it got in terms of goal mouth action with neither side doing enough to warrant all three points.

Today’s draw means Chelsea have won just two of their last seven games and sees them slip six points behind league leaders Man City.

Speaking afterward Blues boss Tuchel admitted his team had been poor during the opening 45 minutes but was much more pleased with their showing after the break.

“I don’t care about the point. I am pleased with the performance, especially in the second half. The first half was a bit of a struggle for us, we had to grow into the game,” Tuchel told Sky Sports.

“Some players had to adapt to new positions. We are not lucky enough in these moments to win games but I am happy with how we played. It was nice to coach from the sideline.

“Wolves don’t concede many chances or goals. We could not expect to create an awful lot but we tried and never stopped trying. The second half was very strong and given the circumstances I am happy with the performance.”

Next up for Chelsea is an away trip to Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
