Everton are set to renew their interest in Rangers’ right-back Nathan Patterson as the club seek a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman.
Rangers resisted interest from Everton last summer with the Toffees seeing a bid of around £5m rejected in August, though the Premier League side are prepared to return in January as Rafael Benitez is provided with funds to invest.
Patterson came through the ranks at Rangers and formed part of the squad that won the Scottish Premiership title last season, whilst the 20-year-old has established himself at international level to win six caps for Scotland, scoring his first goal during November’s win over Moldova.
The Mail are reporting that Rangers could demand a fee as high as £10m for the right-back, who Everton believe can be the long-term replacement for club captain Coleman.
Benitez is keen to add two full-backs to his squad next month as owner Farhad Moshiri backs the Spaniard following a disappointing start to the season, with the club also closing in on the £21m signing of Dynamo Kyiv left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Benitez is also said to be targeting the signing of a central midfielder during the January window, though there could be departures as Everton look to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
There are doubts surrounding the future of Lucas Digne following a reported fall-out with Benitez and the impending arrival of Mykolenko.
