Chelsea ‘increasingly interested’ in Monaco’s Tchouameni

Chelsea are ‘increasingly interested’ in signing Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as the club consider transfer targets for the next two transfer windows.

The European champions are currently scouting the 21-year-old ahead of a potential move, with Tchouameni having attracted interest from Europe’s elite following a number of impressive performances in Ligue 1.

Tchouameni – who is also said to be interesting Manchester United – was named as Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Season last term and included in the divisional Team of the Year, ranking second in France’s top tier for tackles won.

Chelsea’s immediate interest in January is the signing of wing-back cover given the extended absence of Ben Chilwell, but the club are focused on recruitment at centre-back and central midfield ahead of the summer.

Goal are reporting that the west Londoners are also interested in West Ham’s Declan Rice, but will look to sign just one midfielder with Thomas Tuchel keen to integrate Conor Gallagher into his squad next season, the 21-year-old having starred on loan at Crystal Palace during the current campaign.

Gallagher has scored six goals and provided three assists for the Eagles in the Premier League, earning his first call-up and cap for England during November’s international break.
