Dortmund want Haaland future resolved by February

Borussia Dortmund want Erling Haaland’s future resolved by February with talks planned between the club and the forward’s representatives.

Haaland is a transfer target for Europe’s leading clubs this summer and has a well-documented release clause (€75m) that will become active at the end of the current season.

Dortmund are keen to prepare for his potential departure and SportBild, as per AS, are reporting that the Bundesliga side are preparing discussions with Haaland and his team to get an indication of the Norwegian’s intentions for next season.

The prospect of Haaland remaining with Dortmund has not been ruled out, but the club are keen to finalise plans for next season in the event the 21-year-old leaves for one of Europe’s elite.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with his signing, whilst there is also said to be interest from Spain’s leading clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Haaland has enjoyed an extraordinary rise in recent seasons and has scored 76 goals in 76 games since signing for Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg, becoming the fastest player in history to reach 20 Champions League goals and finishing as the competition’s leading scorer in 2020/21.

He was named as the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season last season and has also netted 12 goals in just 15 appearances for Norway at international level.

Dortmund have been linked with several forwards should Haaland leave next summer, including Red Bull Salzburg teenager Karim Adeyemi and Chelsea’s Timo Werner.
