Aubameyang keen to stay in Europe despite Saudi interest

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is keen to stay in Europe despite interest in the Arsenal forward from Saudi side, Al Hilal.

Arsenal are open to the departure of the 32-year-old after he was stripped of the club captaincy last month, with the Gabon international subsequently dropped from the side before departing for international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Al Hilal have made an approach to take Aubameyang on loan with the deal including his wages paid in full and an option to buy, but The Athletic are reporting that the forward is ‘inclined’ not to accept a move to the Middle East at this stage of his career.

Paris Saint-Germain are among the European clubs believed to be interested in his signing, but Aubameyang’s wages are ‘likely to be a problem’ for potential suitors.

Aubemyang wants to remain in a leading European league should he leave Arsenal this month and is keen to prove himself following his exile at the Emirates, with the forward currently training alone since returning from the AFCON.

Arsenal want to sign a new centre-forward but there are doubts over whether the club can convince Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic to North London his month and the Gunners are considering alternative targets.

Fiorentina are open to the sale of Vlahovic – who has scored 17 league goals in 21 appearances this season – after the forward turned down a new deal with the Serie A side, but the Serbia international is believed to be keen to keep his options open until the summer window.
