Newcastle are set to make a renewed ‘push’ to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.
Lingard is keen to leave the Red Devils this month after struggling for first-team football, the midfielder having failed to start a Premier League fixture so far this season.
Newcastle have already seen an opening approach for the 29-year-old rejected, but – according to Fabrizio Romano – will ‘push again’ to secure a deal for the England international before the transfer deadline.
Lingard is out of contract at the end of the season and United favour a permanent deal, though the player is keen to keep his options open and would prefer a loan move to St James’ Park with Newcastle currently in the Premier League’s relegation places.

Newcastle could offer the Red Devils a significant loan fee to secure the midfielder’s signing as Eddie Howe looks to add to the arrivals of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood this month.
Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and starred at the London Stadium, scoring nine goals in 16 league appearances as the Hammer secured Europa League qualification.
West Ham and Tottenham had been interested in his signing this month, but United are reluctant to allow Lingard to leave to a potential rival for Champions League football.
A loan deal could bolster Newcastle’ squad ahead of the run-in and still provide Lingard with the freedom to decide his next club when he becomes a free agent this summer.
