Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is willing to take a pay cut in order to secure a loan move to Barcelona ahead of today’s transfer deadline.
Barcelona have been in talks with Arsenal to sign Aubameyang on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the two clubs ‘close’ to an agreement after the forward’s exile at the Emirates.
Aubameyang has not featured since being stripped of the club captaincy for a disciplinary breach in December and was omitted from Mikel Arteta’s squad for a training break in Dubai during the international break, as the Gunners look to move on the Gabon international.
The 32-year-old’s £350,000-a-week wages were problematic in finding a suitor for the forward, but the Mail are reporting that Aubameyang is prepared to take a cut in order to finalise a move to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona’s hopes of facilitating a deal will be aided should Ousmane Dembele complete a move to Paris Saint-Germain with the winger having agreed terms with the Ligue 1 side, having turned now a new contract in Catalonia.
Aubameyang could become the third Premier League name to arrive at Barcelona as the club look to strengthen their attacking options this month, following the arrivals of Ferran Torres and Adama Traore.
