Rangnick says he has ‘no idea’ about Pochettino links

Ralf Rangnick says he has ‘no idea’ about speculation linking Manchester United with the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino has been reported as the Red Devils’ leading target to take the permanent position as manager, with Rangnick currently in interim charge until the end of the season before moving into a consultatory role at Old Trafford.

Pochettino has been a long-term target for the club and is understood to be unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain with one report today saying that United are ‘increasingly confident’ of luring the former Tottenham boss back to the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of the club’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Middlesbrough tomorrow evening, Rangnick admitted he has ‘no idea’ about the prospect of Pochettino becoming the club’s next manager.

“I have no idea,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“My full focus is on training the group right now, we have games coming up in three different competitions, I couldn’t give any reasonable answer to that question.

“My focus is on the next couple of games, weeks and months, to be as successful as we can be.”

Rangnick will be hoping his side can maintain their momentum against Middlesbrough tomorrow, having won back-to-back Premier League games against Brentford and West Ham before the international break.
