Kylian Mbappe insists he has ‘not decided’ on his future after scoring a late winner in Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
The pre-match talk surrounded Mbappe’s future with the forward expected to leave PSG and sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season, with the France international scoring a brilliant late winner to hand his current side a 1-0 first leg advantage.
PSG rejected several bids from Real Madrid for the 23-year-old last summer, the last believed to be in the region of £135m for a player who has scored 154 goals in 203 appearances since arriving at the Parc des Princes.
Mbappe is out of contract at the end of the season and his reluctance to sign a new deal has increased the belief that he will depart for Spain as a free agent in the summer, though the forward says he is yet to make a decision and remains focused on achieving success at PSG this season.
“I’ve not decided my future. I play for Paris Saint Germain, one of the best clubs in the world,” Mbappe told Movistar after his winning goal in Tuesday’s clash.
“I give my best and then we will see what happens next season.”
Mbappe was asked how he has dealt with the uncertainty and speculation surrounding his future, with the Frenchman having enjoyed an excellent individual campaign to score 22 goals in all competitions.
He insists he remains focused on PSG and reiterated his happiness in the French capital.
“How to ignore the context? It’s easy, you have to play football,” Mbappe said on transfer rumours to Canal Plus.
“We ask too many questions, we say too many things. We talk about PSG and Real, two big clubs.
“I’m a PSG player, I’m always very happy.”
