Kylian Mbappe is reportedly interested in a move to Liverpool amid second thoughts over his proposed transfer to Real Madrid.
Mbappe is out of contract this summer and free to leave Paris Saint-Germain, with the forward having been widely expected to sign for Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
The Spanish side saw several bids rejected for the 23-year-old – who had expressed a desire to leave Paris for the Bernabeu – last summer and have retained their interest in signing Mbappe as a free agent.
Mbappe scored the winning goal as PSG met Real Madrid in the Champions League’s last 16 on Tuesday and Sport are reporting that the Spaniard’s showing has seen the Frenchman doubt a summer move to the club.
PSG dominated the first leg despite their narrow 1-0 win and Mbappe is concerned about the strength of Real Madrid’s project, with the forward considering a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool are understood to have held a long-standing interest in signing Mbappe and are monitoring his situation should a move to Spain fail to materialise.
However, the reports from the Catalan-based outlet oppose those coming out of Madrid, with Marca insisting there has been no great change in Mbappe’s situation with the star expected to sign for Real.
Meanwhile, a separate report in Sport has claimed that Real have ‘accelerated’ their interest in Erling Haaland as Los Blancos look to unite the Borussia Dortmund forward with Mbappe in the Spanish capital.
The duo are widely recognised as the best young forwards in world football and Real have joined a long list of suitors for the Norwegian, who has a release clause of €75m at the Bundesliga side that will become active this summer.
