Arsenal want to sign Alexander Isak this summer and will seek to negotiate a fee lower than his €80m release clause at Real Sociedad.
The signing of a centre-forward is believed to be Arsenal’s priority in the summer transfer window and the Gunners are interested in a deal to sign Isak.
Arsenal allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave for Barcelona during the January transfer window, whilst both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract at the end of the season.
Isak scored 17 league goals for Real Sociedad last season before impressing for Sweden at Euro 2020, with Barcelona also understood to be interested in signing the 22-year-old.
Isak has failed to replicate those performances this season and has eight goals in all competitions, his lack of goals raising hope from Arsenal that the club can negotiate a better value deal.
Sport are reporting that the Gunners are hopeful Sociedad will compromise on their so far ‘inflexible’ stance that Isak’s release clause must be met in full, as Arteta looks to add another promising talent to his developing team at the Emirates.
Barcelona are believed to be focused on a deal for Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, but will switch their attentions to Isak should a move fail to materialise.
