Ranking the five favourites to sign superstar striker Erling Haaland this summer

Erling Haaland’s future has rarely been far from the headlines in recent months, with the forward’s well-documented release clause at Borussia Dortmund set to become active this summer.

Haaland is a transfer target for each of Europe’s elite following his explosive emergence, the Norwegian having scored 80 goals in just 79 appearances across all competitions since his arrival in the Bundesliga.

The 21-year-old is available this summer for a fee of just €75m, a modest sum for a talent expected to define a decade with his goalscoring prowess.

As we edge ever closer to the summer transfer window, punters will be checking the odds on which club the prolific striker will join.

With that in mind, we’ve looked at the five favourites to sign Erling Haaland this summer. Sportsbet is among the most popular esports betting sites accepting crypto along with Thunderpick according to esportsbettingtop.

Paris Saint-Germain – 16/1

Paris Saint-Germain could be in the market for a centre-forward this summer as uncertainty continues to surround Kylian Mbappe’s future, the forward out of contract at the end of the season and expected to join Real Madrid.

Mbappe has remained uncommitted on his future when asked, insisting he has not ruled out the prospect of remaining with PSG despite his failure to sign a new deal.

PSG are understood to be prepared to offer the 23-year-old a record-breaking deal in a bid to convince him to remain, with Mbappe having suggested he is considering putting pen to paper.

“I have only Cavani left to be the top scorer in the history of PSG. We’ll see what happens,” Mbappe said last weekend.

“Being PSG’s top scorer is something that cannot be ignored. We’ll see what happens.”

PSG’s interest in Haaland is likely to depend on Mbappe’s future, with the Norwegian perhaps providing the perfect replacement for the France international. PSG have the finances to attract Haaland, but it remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old can be tempted by Ligue 1.

Bayern Munich – 10/1

Bayern Munich have often raided their divisional rivals for top talent across the past decade, with Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski among those to have swapped Dortmund for Bavaria.

The Bundesliga champions have been linked with the signing of Haaland this summer, as Lewandowski ponders a new challenge after eight record-breaking seasons at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer ruled out the potential arrival of Haaland in December, given the presence of Lewandowski among the club’s ranks.

Should the 33-year-old – who has scored 333 goals in 362 games for Bayern – move on, however, there are few better replacements than Haaland.

The Norway international has averaged almost a goal-per-game in the Bundesliga and at 21 has the potential to spearhead the side for the next decade.

Barcelona – 8/1

Barcelona are 8/1 third-favourites to sign Haaland this summer, despite the financial problems currently impacting the Spanish side.

Xavi has managed to add to his options despite the club’s crippling economic situation, bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore during January transfer window.

The club’s president, Joan Laporta, warned rivals clubs that Barcelona are back ahead of the summer transfer window, insisting the Catalans can compete financially for the game’s biggest players.

“We’re working on the summer window. Everything is possible if it’s done well. I am sure things will go well. Barcelona are still a reference. Every player considers the possibility of coming here,” Laporta said at the unveiling of Torres.

“We still have our status in the transfer market. Everyone can get ready because Barca are back; the arrival of Ferran shows that. We’re a reference. Barca’s resurgence is a reality and the football world has realised that.”

Real Madrid – 5/1

Real Madrid will relaunch their project this summer after a series of comparatively quiet transfer windows, with both Kylian Mbappe and Haaland on the club’s list of targets.

Mbappe remains the leading target as he approaches the end of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, but the prospect of uniting the France international with Haaland is one that will create huge excitement at the Bernabeu.

Just how the duo would fit in alongside Karim Benzema remains to be seen, but Real Madrid – and particularly president Florentino Perez – have shown on several occasions that they are willing to squeeze ‘Galactico’ signings into the same side.

Should Mbappe cause a surprise and decide to renew in Paris, then Real will be hell-bent on bringing Haaland to the Bernabeu.

Manchester City – 6/4

Manchester City are the 6/4 favourites to sign Haaland, with the presence of an elite number nine perhaps all that is missing from Pep Guardiola’s options.

Sergio Aguero’s departure last summer has left a void in the attack of the Premier League champions, one which has been filled this season by a combination of false nines in Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva among others.

City have the resources and sporting project to convince Haaland to move to the Etihad, where he could follow in the footsteps of his father, Alf-Inge, who spent three seasons with the club between 2000 and 2003.

City boast arguably the strongest squad in world football at present and the addition of Haaland to their ranks would send an ominous warning to rivals both in England and in Europe.
