Haaland suitors set to ‘learn his decision in the next few weeks’

Erling Haaland’s suitors will ‘learn his decision in the next few weeks’ as the Borussia Dortmund forward prepares to announce his destination of choice.

Haaland is a leading target for a number of leading clubs with a well-documented release clause of €75m set to become active in his contract this summer, with Real Madrid and Manchester City believed to be leading the race for his services.

The Athletic are reporting that Haaland is the number one target for the Premier League champions, as Pep Guardiola looks to reinforce his squad ahead of next season with the signing of a centre-forward.

Real Madrid also want to secure a deal for the Norway international, who has scored a staggering 80 goals in 79 appearances since signing for Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

The Spanish giants want to secure a deal for Haaland that will see him remain at Dortmund for a further season, arriving at the Bernabeu in 2023 when the contract of Karim Benzema expires.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are focused on securing the free transfer signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, but will move for Haaland now if a deal can only be secured this summer.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also held talks with the forward’s representatives, though City and Real Madrid remain favourites given the fee, wages and agent’s fees that will be required to sign Haaland this summer.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked, though aren’t expected to be among the frontrunners for his signature.

The expectation is that Haaland will make a decision in the coming weeks and bring an end to the scramble from Europe’s elite for his signature.
