Manchester United have registered an interest in signing Robert Lewandowski, with the forward having been ‘surprised’ by Bayern Munich’s lack of talks over a new deal.
Lewandowski’s current contract is set to expire in 2023 and the Poland international has not been approached over an extension by the Bundesliga champions, despite his continued excellence in front of goal.
The 33-year-old scored the earliest hat-trick in Champions League history after scoring three times inside the opening 23 minutes against Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday, as Bayern progressed to the quarter-finals with a 7-1 thrashing of the Austrian side.
Lewandowski has scored 42 goals in just 35 appearances in all competitions this season and Bild [via Sport Witness] are reporting that Manchester United are interested in a deal to bring him to the Premier League.

United have reportedly made it known they ‘would like to make the first offer’ should he decide to leave Bayern, either this summer or as a free agent in 2023.
Lewandowski has won The Best FIFA Men’s Player in 2020 and 2021 and has scored 336 goals in 364 games for Bayern Munich since arriving on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
He is the second-highest goalscorer in both the club’s and Bundesliga history, behind Gerd Muller.
