Antoine Griezmann says Atletico Madrid will ‘have to fight every second’ ahead of the club’s Champions League clash with Manchester United.
The Spanish side travel to face the Red Devils in the second leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday, with the scores level at 1-1 following the first meeting at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium last month.
Atletico created the better opportunities during the first meeting but failed to secure a win, as Anthony Elanga’s equaliser cancelled out Joao Felix’s early opener for Diego Simeone’s side.
Atletico now travel to Manchester needing to win to secure progress to the quarter-finals and Griezmann has warned his side they must ‘fight every second’ to earn a positive result at Old Trafford.
“We hope to win and go through, we have the team to do it, but we will have to fight every second,” Griezmann said, as per Marca.
“A beautiful game to play. We know that a lot of fans are coming. For us it is very important match, where we must win to go through and hopefully it will be a great night.”
“We are confident, we are playing well. Whoever is player, whether starter or substitute, is doing very well. We must continue like this, and I am sure whoever comes on, the substitutes will be ready to contribute in what the team needs during the game and then got a great performance from everyone.”
