Arsenal are ‘confident’ that Mikel Arteta will commit his future to the club despite speculation linking the Spaniard with Paris Saint-Germain.
Arteta has impressed during his first senior role in management with the Gunners, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield with the North London side and overseeing an impressive rebuild of the squad.
The 39-year-old has led Arsenal into the top four and the Gunners are on course to secure Champions League qualification for the first time since the 2016/17 season, having won nine of their last 11 Premier League fixtures.
Reports in France have named Arteta as one of a number of potential candidates to take over at Paris Saint-Germain, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Mauricio Pochettino following the club’s Champions League exit to Real Madrid last week.
Arteta – who spent the 2001/02 season on loan with PSG during his playing career – is currently contracted to Arsenal until 2023, though football.london say that the club are confident that he will extend his deal at the Emirates.
Arsenal are one point ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United in the race for a top four finish, but have three games in hand on the Red Devils ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Liverpool.
