Antonio Conte has reacted to Mikel Arteta’s criticism of the Premier League fixture list, following the Spaniard’s comments this week.
Arteta hit out at the Premier League over their scheduling of fixtures, criticising the short turnaround Arsenal have been issued ahead of this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.
The Gunners boss also complained about future fixtures, including his side’s preparation time ahead of crucial clashes with Chelsea and Manchester United.
“Thank you so much to the Premier League, to do that and they’ve done it again when we have to play Chelsea and Manchester United, so if they want to give them any advantage, I say to them today, thank you so much for doing that,” Arteta said following Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool.
“Yes, absolutely [a complaint has been issued], because it’s not fair what they’ve done.”
Conte was questioned on Arteta’s comments ahead of Spurs’ clash with West Ham on Sunday and issued a response to the Arsenal boss, pointing to the Gunners’ postponement of the North London derby in January.
“Yeah but I only want Arteta to remember the game postponed. Tottenham – Arsenal okay? If we speak about unfair. I stop,” Conte said at his pre-match press conference.
“If someone wants to speak about fair or unfair. We postponed the game, Tottenham-Arsenal, if you remember. I don’t. I don’t forget this, and I think that it’s not right to speak about fair or unfair.”
