Man Utd ‘very hot’ on Nkunku, but PSG interested in re-signing Leipzig forward

Manchester United are reported to be ‘very hot’ on Christopher Nkunku, though Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in re-signing the RB Leipzig forward.

Nkunku has enjoyed a brilliant individual season at Leipzig to earn interest from Europe’s elite, with the 24-year-old having been included in the France squad for the first time this month.

The versatile forward has scored 26 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions for the Bundesliga side and Manchester United are among the sides interested in his services.

Bild are reporting that the Red Devils are ‘very hot’ on the signing of the Frenchman, though will face competition from PSG who are interested in re-signing their former player.

Nkunku came through the academy system at PSG and made 78 appearances in all competitions before departing for Leipzig, where he has since developed into one of the Bundesliga’s most effective forwards.

He scored a Champions League hat-trick in defeat at Manchester City in September and trails only Robert Lewandowski, Patrik Schick and Erling Haaland for Bundesliga goals this season. He also ranks third in the division for assists.

Unlike past previous big names to have departed Leipzig, there is no release clause in Nkunku’s contract and he is believed to be valued at around €75m.

PSG’s interest comes with Kylian Mbappe expected to leave for Real Madrid in the summer and a return to the Parc des Princes could materialise for Nkunku, having departed for Leipzig in July 2019.
