Paul Pogba has revealed his battle with depression and has opened up on the fright of a burglary at his home last week.
The France international spoke on his mental health struggles and admitted there have been ‘unmistakable signs’ that he was suffering with depression during his career.
“I’ve had depression in my career, but we don’t talk about it,” Pogba told Le Figaro.
“Sometimes you don’t know you are, you just want to isolate yourself, be alone, these are unmistakable signs.”
The 29-year-old also revealed the details of a burglary at his home last week, which occurred during Manchester United‘s Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid, with his children present at the home under the care of a nanny.
Pogba confirmed his family are ok after the incident, but revealed his World Cup winners’ medal was among the items stolen.
“I am ok, my family too. I had quite a surprising week, with the Champions’ League match where I learned that I am not going to play and, when I went home, I discovered that my home was robbed following the entry of three people who stole my safe.
“There was my mother’s jewellery in there, my World Cup medal.
“What scared me the most, is that my two children were at home with the nanny during the incident. She heard everything, called my wife and security, then locked herself with the boys (aged 1 and 2) in a room. For several days after, she was in shock. The most important thing is that my children are doing fine.”
Pogba is currently with the France squad preparing for fixtures with Ivory Coast and South Africa and says the break provides the midfielder with a ‘breath of fresh air’ as he looks to rediscover his fitness and return to Manchester United in ‘top form’.
“This break gives me a real breath of fresh air,” he added.
“I want to have playing time to come back in top form at the club. Wearing this jersey, representing my country, is more than ever a source of pride.”
