Roma set £100m asking price for in-demand Abraham

Roma have set an asking price of £100m on Tammy Abraham in a bid to ward off interest from the Premier League.

Abraham has enjoyed an excellent debut season after signing for Roma from Chelsea last summer, scoring 23 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The 24-year-old has broken the joint-record of Gabriel Batistuta and Vincenzo Montella for goals in a debut season at Roma and has become the first English player to score 10+ Serie A goals in a season since David Platt in 1992.

Manchester United have been credited with an interest in signing the England international, whilst Manchester City are in the market for a centre-forward, though the club’s main focus is on landing Erling Haaland.

Arsenal also expressed an interest in signing Abraham last summer before his move to Italy, and are targeting attacking additions this summer.

The Mail are reporting that Roma have placed a valuation of £100m on Abraham with the club reluctant to lose the forward after a single season in Italy.

Roma signed Abraham in a £34m deal last summer, though Chelsea inserted a buy-back clause of £67m into the agreement. However, that clause will not become active until 2023.

A huge offer for Abraham could prove tempting for Roma, however, with the club having posted losses of £154m last October.

Mourinho’s side are sixth Serie A at present and unlikely to secure lucrative Champions League qualification.
