N’Golo Kante ‘snubbed’ an approach from Paris Saint-Germain in January with the midfielder keen to remain at Chelsea.
Kante’s contract at Chelsea is set to expire at the end of next season and PSG are understood to have made an approach during the January transfer window, sounding out the France international over a proposed move to Ligue 1 for next season.
PSG have been long-term admirers of the 31-year-old and have twice previously made attempts to sign Kante, first before his move to Chelsea from Leicester in 2016 and another following his role in France’s World Cup success in 2018.
Le Parisien are reporting that Kante has again ‘snubbed’ an approach from the Parisians and wants to remain at Chelsea despite the current uncertainty at Stamford Bridge.
A sale of the west Londoners could be completed next month following the sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich, a situation that would permit the Blues to open contract talks with the midfielder.
Kante has made 249 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup as part of a clean sweep of major honours.
He was named as the PFA Player of the Year as Chelsea won the title in 2016/17 and starred during the club’s Champions League success last season, before adding the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup to his collection of honours this season.
