Man Utd to tell six players they can leave this summer, but some unhappy stars could be forced to stay

Manchester United will allow six players to leave the club this summer, but several unhappy stars could be forced to remain at Old Trafford.

United have a host of names keen on an exit from the club during the summer transfer window, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani all expected to leave as free agents when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Lee Grant, Tahith Chong and Juan Mata will also leave on free transfers, though unsettled stars still contracted could be forced to stay at the club.

The Mirror are reporting that Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Donny van de Beek and Axel Tuanzebe are among those interested in an exit this summer, with each having struggled for first-team football.

Martial, Van de Beek and Tuanzebe are all out on loan at present, but will be given a chance to impress the incoming permanent manager with Erik ten Hag expected to be announced.

Ten Hag could allow names to leave in a bid to raise further funds for his own recruitment, though will run the rule over United’s unsettled stars before making final decisions.

The 52-year-old has been linked with signing several names from current side Ajax, including Jurrien Timber, Noussair Mazraoui and Antony. United are also interested in strengthening their midfield options and have been linked with an ambitious move for Tottenham forward Harry Kane.

Exits for unsettled stars could occur later in the window, though only once the Dutchman has had chance to assess his options during the club’s pre-season campaign.
