Borussia Dortmund will look to ‘ward off’ interest from Liverpool in Jude Bellingham as the club look to resist interest in the midfielder this summer.
Liverpool are one of a number of clubs considering an approach for Bellingham, who has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in European football at Dortmund.
The 18-year-old has scored six goals and provided 13 assists for the Bundesliga side this season and has already racked up 86 appearances – and 12 senior caps for England – since signing for Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020.
Liverpool are interested in a deal to sign the teenager though Bild, as per Sky Sports, are reporting that Dortmund will fend off interest from the Reds and Real Madrid by handing Bellingham increased ‘responsibility’ at the Westfalenstadion.
Dortmund are expected to lose Erling Haaland this summer with the forward closing in on a move to Manchester City and are reluctant to allow both of their prized assets to depart in the same transfer window.
Liverpool are understood to want Bellingham as Jurgen Klopp looks to the future in midfield, with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara into their thirties and uncertainty surrounding the futures of James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Manchester United were interested in signing Bellingham before his move to Dortmund and remain interested, whilst Chelsea have also been credited as admirers.
