Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City ‘definitely’ can’t afford to drop a single point in the Premier League title race.
City lead the title race from Liverpool by just a single point with six games remaining, a 3-0 win over Brighton in midweek having moved the defending champions back above Jurgen Klopp’s team, who beat Manchester United the previous evening.
Guardiola’s side take on Watford in the Premier League this weekend and the Spaniard insists his side cannot afford to drop any points across the run-in.
Guardiola insists any mistakes will be capitalised on by the chasing Reds, but is confident his side can handle the pressure after a gripping 2018/19 title race with Liverpool went down to the wire.
“Definitely. We can’t drop points but [Liverpool] can’t either,” he told his pre-match press conference.
”The players know it, we were in this position before. We play a final versus Brighton to be able to play another one. If we win we have chance to play another. Try to recover injured players, be fresh in the mind.
”When we finish tomorrow, another [game] in three days in Champions League. Then Leeds. Be fresh, relax, ready for the moment of the game.”
