Moyes looking forward to West Ham’s clash with ‘top team’ Chelsea

David Moyes is relishing the chance to take on Chelsea this weekend as West Ham face their London rivals at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham make the short trip across the capital to face Chelsea on Sunday, as the Hammers look to boost their hopes of securing European football for next season.

Moyes’ side are seventh in the Premier League at present, ahead of a fixture with a Chelsea team who have lost their last three games on home soil.

Moyes is anticipating a difficult test against, however, praising the strength of Chelsea’s squad and insisting Thomas Tuchel’s side are a ‘top team’.

“Chelsea were arguably the favourites for the Premier League in the first three months of the season – since then you’ve seen the strength of Manchester City and Liverpool,” Moyes told his pre-match press conference.

“They’re champions of Europe and have a really good squad and manager. They’ve had their ups and downs as all teams do, but they have a top team. It’s just the top two have ploughed ahead.”

West Ham remain in pursuit of European football through their league finish and Europa League success, with the Hammers set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their semi-final showdown on Thursday evening.

Moyes is delighted to take on the challenge of competing on multiple fronts and says he ‘wouldn’t have it any other way’.

“We wouldn’t want it any other way. We’re coming up to the end of April, we’re still in Europe and we could make Europe again through our league position.”
