Jesse Lingard in ‘advanced talks’ with four clubs ahead of Manchester United exit

Jesse Lingard is in ‘advanced talks’ with a quartet of interested clubs as the midfielder prepares to leave Manchester United this summer.

Lingard is out of contract at the end of the season and set to leave as a free agent, having started just two Premier League fixtures for the Red Devils this season.

The Mail are reporting that the 29-year-old is in ‘advanced talks’ with Juventus, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle over a potential summer move, as he looks to relaunch his career and revive his international ambitions.

The England international is understood to have ruled out the prospect of incoming manager Erik ten Hag persuading him to remain at United.

Lingard had been interested in a loan move to Newcastle during the January transfer window, but saw United’s demands price him out of a temporary move to St James’ Park.

Tottenham and West Ham were also interested, but were seen as a direct rivals for a top four finish and Champions League qualification.

Lingard had a successful spell on loan at the latter during the 2020/21 campaign, scoring nine goals in 16 league appearances for the Hammers to earn an England recall.

He has found himself marginalised once again since returning to Old Trafford, with the midfielder’s brother having taken to social media to criticise the club’s treatment of Lingard this week.

The academy graduate remained an unused substitute for the final home game of the season against Brentford, with the club’s other four out-of-contract players – Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and Phil Jones – given farewell appearances.
