Haaland’s move to Man City a ‘done deal’

Erling Haaland’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City is a ‘done deal’ with an announcement expected this week.

City are expected to announce the capture of the forward with the Premier League champions having beaten off competition from Europe’s elite to sign one of world football’s most coveted talents.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a stunning emergence in recent campaigns and has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances since signing for Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

The Athletic are reporting that Haaland’s move to the Premier League is now a ‘done deal’, with the Bundesliga side expecting notification from City that the club will pay the Norwegian’s €75m release clause this summer.

Personal terms have already been agreed between the player’s representatives and City, who have beaten the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain to Haaland’s signature.

Haaland will follow in the footsteps of his father, Alf-Inge, who spent three seasons with City during his own Premier League career and his arrival will end Pep Guardiola’s pursuit of a recognised centre-forward.

Last season Haaland became the fastest footballer in history to reach 20 goals in the Champions League (14 games) and the youngest to finish a season as the competition’s leading scorer.
