Bayern Munich are said to be targeting a move for Sadio Mane with the Liverpool forward ‘unhappy’ at contract talks with the club.
Mane will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Liverpool this summer and there has been little progress on a new deal for the Senegal international, who is believed to have been left ‘unhappy’ that an extension for Mohamed Salah has been prioritised.
The 30-year-old has scored 21 goals in all competitions for the Reds this season and Sky Germany are reporting that Bayern are considering an approach, with the Bundesliga champion’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, understood to have met Mane’s representatives over the weekend.
Salihamidzic said Bayern have ‘creative ideas’ over the summer window when asked on the club’s transfer plans on Sunday and the German giants are interested in a deal to bring Mane to Munich.
Mane has established himself as one of Europe’s leading forwards across six seasons at Anfield, scoring 118 goals in 258 appearances and winning the Champions League and Premier League among his honours.
He won a share of the Premier League’s Golden Boot in 2018/19 and was a key figure in Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations success in 2022, being named as Player of the Tournament.
Bayern could be eyeing Mane as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has been linked with an exit from the Bavarian club this summer.
