Raheem Sterling will ‘wait’ until the summer before making a decision on his Manchester City future.
Sterling will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer and has been linked with a potential exit from the Etihad, with Arsenal and Tottenham among the clubs believed to be monitoring his situation.
The 27-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season but has seen his role decrease under Pep Guardiola.
The England international was named on the bench for both legs of City’s Champions League exit to Real Madrid and his importance to the side will at the centre of a decision on his future.
The Athletic are reporting that Sterling’s focus is on retaining the Premier League title and he scored during City’s 5-1 win at Wolves on Wednesday, before attentions will turn to England’s UEFA Nations League campaign in June.
Sterling has not ruled out the prospect of a new deal at City and relations between the club and player remain strong with all negotiations described as ‘mature, amicable and honest’.
Despite interest from North London, the winger is not believed to have expressed any interest in moves to either Tottenham or Arsenal and, should he leave City this summer, his expectation would be to join one of Europe’s elite sides.
Barcelona have previously been credited with an interest, but it remains to be seen how financially viable a move for Sterling is for sides on the continent.
