Liverpool forward Origi set for AC Milan move

Divock Origi is set to sign for AC Milan on a free transfer this summer as the forward prepares to leave Liverpool.

Origi will leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season after struggling for regular first-team football, with the Belgium international having started just two Premier League games across the last two seasons.

The Guardian are reporting that the 27-year-old has agreed a deal with AC Milan and will undergo a medical and sign terms once Liverpool’s campaign has concluded.

Origi has become a cult figure on Merseyside despite his struggle for regular minutes, having scored a number of crucial goals during the Reds’ recent successes.

He played a prominent role in Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League success, scoring twice in the club’s comeback win over Barcelona in the semi-finals before scoring the second in the 2-0 final win over Tottenham in Madrid.

His fine record in Merseyside Derby fixtures has also added to his status at Anfield, having scored six times in ten appearances against Everton, including in April’s 2-0 win over the Toffees.

Origi will sign for an AC Milan side who are closing in on a first league title in more than a decade. A win for the Rossoneri at Sassuolo on the final day will confirm the club as champions for the first time since 2010/11.
