Chelsea players keen to hear new owners plans before committing to club

A number of Chelsea players are keen to hear the plans of the new ownership before committing their long-term futures to the club.

Chelsea’s takeover is expected to be completed after the UK government and Premier League approved the £4.25bn bid submitted from an American-based consortium fronted by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly.

The move will end Roman Abramovich’s reign as owner of the West Londoners and usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge, with the club’s senior stars keen to discover the plans and ambitions of the new ownership.

The Times are reporting that the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho – who will enter the final 12 months of their deals this summer – are looking for assurances over the Blues’ ability to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League before making a decision on their futures.

Chelsea are also looking to secure new deals for Mason Mount and Reece James, whilst the club’s focus is on defensive additions as Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen prepare to leave on free transfers for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol are names under consideration as Thomas Tuchel looks to rebuild his squad with Boehly reportedly set to provide around £200m to invest this summer.
