Chelsea are interested in signing Raheem Sterling from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Sterling originally emerged as a prodigious teenage talent at Liverpool before controversially deciding to join Man City in a £50 million deal back in 2015.
The Jamaican born forward has developed into one of English football’s most dangerous attacking players in recent years and has netted 91 goals in 225 Premier League appearances for the Citizens.
Sterling has enjoyed huge success under City coach Pep Guardiola, winning four of the last five Premier League titles and the 74 cap England international often seemed to be one of the first names on the team sheet by the Spanish coach.
However, the 27-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at City in recent times and was noticeably omitted for most of his sides crunch games towards the business end of last season.
According to the Telegraph Sterling is far from happy about his diminished stature within Guardiola’s squad and he is open to leaving City this summer.
Chelsea are set to spend big this summer, with Thomas Tuchel reported to be ready to embark on a £200 million spending spree and the German coach would like to make Sterling a statement signing of the club’s new ownership.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have also been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona’s out of contract winger Ousmane Dembele, with the French attacker previously having played the best football of his career under Tuchel’s guidance at Borussia Dortmund.
