Juventus ‘closing in’ on re-signing Paul Pogba

Juventus are ‘closing in’ on the re-signing of Paul Pogba with the midfielder nearing a free transfer return to the Italian side.

Pogba is a free agent after leaving Manchester United at the end of his contract and has held talks with Juventus over a return to Turin, having spent four seasons with the Bianconeri prior to his then-world record £89m move to Old Trafford in 2016.

The France international is now close to completing a deal to re-join Juventus with the Mail reporting that Pogba is on the verge of signing a four-year contract worth around £68m.

The 29-year-old will hope to replicate the success of his first spell at the club, in which the midfielder won four consecutive Serie A titles and was named in the division’s Team of the Season on three occasions.

Pogba departed Juventus to sign for Manchester United in a record-breaking deal, but struggled to produce his best football on a consistent basis in the Premier League.

He won a League Cup and Europa League double during his debut campaign in 2016/17, but has since failed to win silverware across the past five seasons at club level.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid had also been linked with Pogba, though Juventus are now strong favourites to re-sign the Frenchman and will hope his arrival can lift a side that finished fourth in Italy last season.
